Building on a mayoral manifesto commitment, Hackney Council launches a business support programme and commissions research into the challenges facing social enterprises and cooperatives in the London context.

To mark International Day of Co-operatives 2023, Hackney Council and local co-op support organisation Hackney Co-operative Developments have joined forces to put on a weekend of events celebrating the huge role co-operatives and social enterprises play in creating a fairer borough both for employees and the community.

In partnership with LIFT, OneTech and the boroughs of Camden, Islington and Tower Hamlets, we have funded a free four-week course to assist businesses in the creative, science and digital sectors in gaining funding.

What does green business look like in action? Mayor of Hackney, Philip Glanville, visited the Hackney Creative Reuse Project, located within the Yodomo textiles shop, to understand how sharing resources and products across the borough can promote a sustainable Hackney.
